The Museum „Hamburger Bahnhof“ exhibits works of the Swedish female artist Hilma af Klint, who started to create abstract paintings already in 1906. She determined in her will, that the abstract pieces shall not be shown publicly until 20 years after her death, which shows, that these works might not be just finger exercises to her. Klint never exhibited the abstract works during her lifetime, because she did not expect understanding of her contemporaries.
