500 years ago Raffael painted the altarpiece with the „Madonna di Foligno“ and recieved the order of pope Julius II. for the „Sistine Madonna“.
The Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister and the Vatican Museums presume that the canvas may stood together in a workshop and arranged a reunion of the paintings.
Even without this motive and the one of the 500th birthday of the nascency, the combination of these two canvas and other representations of the Madonna from around that time is impressive.
