The work of the American artist Alex Katz spans around 70 years. To this day, Katz captures the here and now in colour and strikingly on large-scale canvases, painting the immediate present, what he calls “the immediate present”. He portrays the figures of his surroundings, friends, and the down-town milieu in New York.
Around 90 works from the 1950s to the present day, paintings, sketches and preliminary drawings are shown in the retrospective of the work by Alex Katz.
